Definition of Paralegal

Paralegals or legal assistants help lawyers with various tasks but their duties cannot be actual legal responsibilities and they cannot provide legal advice to clients or practice law in the courtroom. Paralegals can help investigate cases and gather evidence. They also can help attorneys who are preparing for trial with depositions, developing legal strategies and arguments for a case.
