What does Not Guilty mean?

Drivers who are involved in a car accident and charged with a crime may plead not guilty, guilty or no contest. Defendants must enter their plea in court soon after their arrest. Pleading not guilty does not mean the driver is innocent or that they may not ultimately plead guilty. Pleading guilty allows the defendant time to review the prosecution's case against them, talk to their car accident lawyer and determine their legal options.
