Definition of Legal Limit

The legal limit for alcohol intoxication in every state is 0.08% BAC or blood alcohol concentration. Drivers who are over the legal limit may be arrested for DUI even if their driving does not appear to be impaired. This is considered per se intoxication and in most states he law allows for an immediate administrative license suspension. DUI penalties vary in each state. DUI laws have increased in severity and can include: mandatory alcohol education class, probation, high fines, mandatory installation of an ignition interlock device, and jail time.
