Definition of Insured

Drivers who wish to operate a motorized vehicle must purchase insurance to protect against physical damage to their car, another driver's car or bodily injury resulting from a car accident. Certain types of insurance are required, while others are not. Drivers are considered "insured" if they have purchased the appropriate insurance. Drivers who have been injured in a car accident may recover compensation from their own insurance company or another driver's insurance company depending on state law and who is determined at-fault for the car accident.
