Definition of Driver Impairment

Driver impairment can include any factor which affects a driver's ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle. Common driver impairments may include: age, fatigue, drug or alcohol use, sleep deprivation, distractions, poor eyesight, and compromised health. Driver impairment increases the risk of injury and death.
