Definition of Comprehensive Coverage

Comprehensive car insurance coverage provides insurance coverage for car damage caused in events other than a collision. Loss caused by incidents of flood or fire, damage caused by animals or if the car is stolen are all covered under comprehensive car insurance coverage. Comprehensive coverage is not required under state law but may be required for drivers who have a loan or lease on their car.
