Definition of Bench Trial

Car accident cases may be considered a bench trial if the car accident case is tried in front of a judge instead of a jury. Bench trials are more common in civil cases and allow the judge to make rulings on procedure, review evidence, evaluate factual issues of the car accident case and determine questions of law.
